Alexander Roy Copeland

Roy Copeland was the first know homesteader in the area arriving before William Foote and the Evans brothers; Harold, Leonard and William.  After participating in the Klondike gold rush in 1898 when he was 21, Roy arrived on the Quill Plains in 1905 to start patent on SE.2.31.19.W2. His quarter section was on the telegraph trail about 2 miles East of Saline Creek.

He was later honored by having both the District and the School named after him.
