"Funeral of David Hatton" The community was shocked and saddened Monday afternoon Nov. 26 by the news that Mr. David Hatton had died in Saskatoon City Hospital, after little more than a week's illness. A very large number of friends and neighbors followed the body to the resting place in Copeland Cemetery on Thursday afternoon. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. R. A. Murray of Wynyard. The Masonic Lodge of Wynyard of which Mr. Hatton was Master, attended in a body and the beautiful Masonic service was read at the grave by Mr. E. G. Brand. The pall-bearers were Messrs: O. J. Brooks, C. Harvey, A. Stewart, E. E. Bolton, J. Blakely, and D. Thornton, all early settlers of the district. A large number of beautiful floral tributes conveyed expressions of sympathy to the bereaved family. The late Mr. Hatton was born at Lakefield, Ontario, 52 years ago. He came west 27 years ago, and homesteaded in the Copeland district. He has resided in the community ever since. In 1910 he was married in Peterborough, Ontario to Miss Jessie Gunn, who survives him with two sons, Clarence and Gordon. Three brothers also survive, Mr. Bert Hatton of Vancouver, William of Salvador, and James of Meadow lake. The last named was present at the funeral also Mrs. Hatton's sister, Mrs. McAdams of Winnipeg. Mr. Hatton will be greatly missed in this community, having always identified himself with every movement for public welfare. He has served for years as secretary-treasurer of Copeland School and also spent several terms on the Board of Management of the United Church.
