"Peter & Elizabeth Ferguson"

Peter Ferguson was born on October 14th. 1878 at Peterborough Ontario.  In 1901 he married Mary Elizabeth Wakefield from Wellington.  Their three girls, Aileen, Marie and Berta were born in Ontario before they came as a family to homestead on SW.12.31.18 at Copeland.  Peter had come out a year earlier in 1908 to build a house for Mary with the help of her brothers.  Their quarter, which was only one mile from our farm on 10, was granted to them on December 20, 1911.  Their section neighbors were, Mary's brother John A. Wakefield, Alexander Franklin (Frank) Burns and Ingibjorg Erickson.  John and his brother George had applied for homesteads the year previous to Peter.  John had taken the quarter section to the north of Peter, while George had applied for NW.2.31.18 which was kitty corner from Robert Blakely on SE.10.

On February 16 in my Diary I mention that Ferguson's baby died at 2:30 pm.  Two days later there was a funeral at their house and a number of people attended including Mr. Spooner, Arthur Unger and his dad, Mr. Currant along with my dad David.  Later that spring, Dr. Austman was at Fergusons' on April 30th. when dad phoned John Blakely to go pick the doctor up to see my mother Jessie who was suffering from nosebleeds.
