"Amy I. Fish" Amy Fish (nee Armstrong) was born January 30, 1905 in Oldham Lancashire, England and immigrated with her parents; John and Ann Armstrong to the Raymore-Semans area in April 1911. Amy was born to be a teacher. After completing her formal education, she took charge of her first school at South Porcupine in 1925. In 1934, Amy, with love and devotion, married Derward Fish and settled at the Fish family farm in the Copeland District. Amy took a very active roll in the community, the United Church and Choir, teaching Sunday School, and was also a 4-H Leader. Amy went back to her profession in 1957 when a local school was in need of a teacher. Twenty-one years later she retired from a very successful teaching career. Many who's lives she touched will remember a strong caring person who taught with patience, compassion and a quiet sense of humor. She was always willing to share her knowledge and skills. Amy passed away on February 26, 1998 at the age of 93, and is interned at the Copeland Cemetery. |
