David Henry Hatton

CLICK FOR MORE PHOTOSMy father David was born at Lakefield Ontario on December 23 1881 and was 25 years old when he arrived on his homestead on NW.16.31.18.W2. He was only a mile away from his two brothers William and James. Having been born in 1870, William was the oldest at 36 years while James was 30 making dad the youngest of the three.

Dad 'Proved Up' his land and received his patent deed on June 20, 1910 at Wynyard Saskatchewan, then the largest town along the recently built CPR railway line.

That summer he traveled back East by train to court and marry his childhood sweetheart Jessie Gunn at Peterboro Ontario.  After the wedding on December 28,  dad brought her out to the adverse life that was unknowingly in store for all early pioneer women.

David later sold NW.16 to O.J. Brooks in order to purchase Bill's homestead on NE.10 so Jessie and him would be next door to his brother Jim on NW.10.
